William Allen "Bill" Mericka

Browns Summit: William Allen “Bill” Mericka of 5963 Summit Ave., age 83, passed away Thursday morning, September 3, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at Beacon Place in Greensboro. The family will have a private service at the home. They will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Saturday evening, September 5th at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 1909 Richardson Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, February 22, 1932, he was the third son of William John and Lauretta Popp Mericka. His brothers were James Ronald Mericka, Cleveland, Ohio and Robert Kenneth Mericka, Atlanta, Georgia – all deceased. Bill attended grade school in Shaker Heights, Ohio, graduated high school at Hebron Academy, Hebron, Maine, studied 2 years at Cornell University, Ithica, New York and transferred to NC State College, Raleigh, NC where he graduated in 1954 with degrees in Marketing & Management and Animal Industry. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. Upon Bill’s return to Greensboro, he became the managing partner of the Reedy Fork Ranch Partnership. He was the sole proprietor of Triple M Ranch where he proudly raised Polled Hereford Cattle. He was a longtime and faithful member of West Market Street United Methodist Church in Greensboro and served as an usher for 50 years. He was an avid admirer of wood turning and was an honorary member of the Piedmont Triad Woodturners Association. He was a “one of a kind” Papa and was involved in every aspect of his grandchildren’s lives. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Faye Jackson Mericka; his 3 sons and their families: Michael A. and son, Scotty of Browns Summit, Jeffrey J. and his wife, Janice and their daughter, Blair and son, Evan of Summerfield and Timothy T. and wife, Sandi and three sons, Tyler, Bryce and Wyatt of McLeansville. He is also survived by his two nephews, Keith and Dean Mericka.
