Reidsville – William “Bill” Rogers, 77, passed away on Monday, December 02, 2013. Bill was born on June 1, 1936 in Bristol, Tennessee. His parents were the late Neil and Sophie Rogers. He spent his childhood in Bristol, but had lived in Reidsville, North Carolina for the past 41 years. Bill was a professional trucker and has spent his entire life in the trucking industry.
Bill was of the Baptist faith and was a charter member of Bible Baptist Church where he served as a trustee until his illness. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 4th and the funeral to follow at 2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Including his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three sisters: Patsy Leonard, Opal Michaels, and Panzy Rogers; and two brothers: Homer Rogers and Freddy Rogers.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Judy Rogers; one son, Dean Rogers and wife Vicki, three daughters: Darlene Stuart and husband Graham of Dacula Georgia; Joy Smith and husband Donny of McLeansville, NC, Sarah Harris of Reidsville, NC. He had six grandchildren: Andrew Hall, Laith Stuart, Collin Stuart, Haley Smith, Neil Smith, Gunnar Rogers, and one great grand-daughter, Natalie Smith. Also survivors include one sister, Phyliss Hartley and husband Jerry of Bristol, Tenn. And three brothers: Doug Rogers and wife Kathy; Claude Rogers and wife Darcus; and Ralph Rogers and wife Carita, all from Bristol, Tennessee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all their friends for all the support and prayers during Bill’s long illness. Also a special thanks to Dr. Edward Hawkins and his staff for their special care and Brittany McKinney for invaluable help, and also thanks to Rockingham County Hospice.
