William Wade "Bill" Norman

Reidsville: William Wade "Bill" Norman Jr., 67, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 10, 2017, at his home. Bill was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School and the College of Business at East Carolina University. Vice President of Sales and Purchasing of Spray Cotton Mills before its closing and self-employed for the past 15 years, Bill loved the art of making and honoring a deal and was a friend to many throughout the textile industry. Bill cherished his lifelong friendships from school and the National Guard. His quick wit enlivened good times shared with his family, neighbors and other outdoorsmen. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, shooting and storytelling. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Mays Norman; his mother, Treva Norman Garrison; brother Ken Norman and wife Becky; mother-in-law Betty Mays; and brothers-in-law Gene and Mike (Dalphene) Mays. Bill’s nieces and nephews are Kit (Addy) Norman, Brent (Anna) Norman, and Kara Norman Conrad (Tim), Milicent Mays Hooper (David), Michaela Mays and Ethan Mays. Great nieces and nephews are Wilson Wade Norman, Kenneth David Augustus Norman, Samantha Dove Conrad, Braedyn Reece Hooper, and Avery Blair Hooper. Bill adored his aunts and uncles and loved spending weekends and summers with his cousins. He was predeceased by his father William Wade Norman, Sr., his step father, Irvin Garrison and father-in-law, Bob Mays. Visitation will be Monday, March 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. and his funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, both at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville.
