Winfred Paul Jones

Reidsville: Winfred Paul Jones, 87, of 1102 South Main Street, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 27, 2013 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hester officiating. The interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Military Graveside Rites. Mr. Jones was born in Rockingham County to the late Walter Monroe and Jessie Mansfield Jones. He served as a US Veteran during WWII where he survived being a Prisoner of War and Bronze Star of Heroism recipient. His patriotic commitment was evident by his involvement and membership to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Ex Prisoners of War, Greensboro Chapter and the Veterans of All Wars. He was a longtime and faithful member of Community Baptist Church. He retired from the American Tobacco Company with over 39 years of service. A man of integrity and honor, he lived his entire life serving his family, friends and country. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Bailey Jones; his brother, Roy Jones and wife, Mary Lou; his sisters, Iva Ruth Jones Williams and husband, Ted, Helen Jones Hanks and Alice Jones Ross; nephew, Ricky Hanks. Mr. Jones is survived by his daughters, Melissa Griffin and husband, Jeff of Madison and Sherry Armstrong and husband, Nathan of FL; grandchildren, Austin Reid Griffin, Jackson Griffin, Moriah Armstrong, Noah Armstrong and Isaiah Armstrong; brother, Calvin Jones and wife, Virginia and Clyde Jones and wife, Mary Frances; brother-in-law, Billy Ross; many nieces and nephews and longtime special friend, Sunshine Hudson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 30 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at his home.
